General Job Summary: Provide
intense, concentrated, home-based, family-focused, therapeutic
interventions to families who have one or more children at risk of
out-of-home placement. Develop and maintain an effective
working relationship with the assigned county Department of Social
Services, other appropriate referring agencies (e.g., mental health,
DJJ) and county resource groups and programs. Receive and determine appropriateness of referrals of
families with one or more children at risk of out-of-home placement,
in accordance with governing standards and policies. Construct service plan oriented to therapeutic, skill
development, and concrete service goals and objectives in
cooperation with the client-family and referring agency. Provide therapeutic interventions to empower families to
achieve the agreed upon goals. Maintain
24-hour, 7 day-a-week availability to client/families. Arrange job
coverage when off-duty. Work
cooperatively with family and Department of Social Services to
fulfill concrete and other service needs, drawing upon church,
community and Methodist Home for Children resources. Maintain a minimum caseload of two and not more than four
families at all times. Provide
intensive, home-based, family focused services for an average of
four weeks, not to exceed six weeks. Complete all required case documentation (state, MHC),
reimbursements, monthly time sheet, etc., and submit them to the
Intensive Family Preservation Clinical Supervisor at the designated
time. Participate in
program evaluation, follow-up on families served, and outcomes of
therapeutic interventions used with their client families. Comply with all legal, ethical, and professional guidelines
associated with Agency and certification organizations’ clinical
practices. Employ applicable confidentiality guidelines relative to
families served. Provide
case consultation services to Department of Social Services and
other referring agencies regarding families that are not appropriate
for family preservation services or who cannot be served because of
a full caseload. Position also includes providing
independent living skills for teens transitioning out of group home
care. Perform other related duties as assigned
designated supervisor.
Qualifications: Minimum
of a Clinical Bachelor’s Degree in social work, marriage and
family therapy, or other appropriate behavioral science, mental
health or theological degree. Two
(2) years of experience in full time social work, counseling or
other relevant human services program, under the supervision of an
appropriately qualified professional. Position requires a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
and the ability to qualify for liability insurance. Must be able to travel independently and possess physical
ability to traverse stairs in all types of buildings and
neighborhoods, often over difficult terrain. Ideally, employee
should be able to enter into physical activities with the children
and family members in delivering therapeutic and concrete services.
Ability to operate audio-visual equipment is advantageous.

General Job Summary:
Under
the direction of the Residential Program Manager, the Teacher plans
and implements a comprehensive individualized education program for
each juvenile resident on a year-round basis. Plan a highly
flexible and innovative classroom curriculum to meet the needs of
each individual juvenile resident of the Multipurpose Juvenile Home.
Makes use of both traditional and computerized learning materials.
Operate the school program in compliance with all approval and
accreditation requirements specified by the North Carolina
Department of Non-Public Instruction. This includes, but is not
limited to, recording daily classroom attendance, filing
immunization records, and conducting an annual audit. Develop
a curriculum for each student that meets the North Carolina standard
course of study requirements for the individual’s youth’s grade
level. Conduct standardized testing as required by the North
Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Prepare detailed
lesson plans and maintains complete, accurate records of attendance
and classroom (social and academic) performance and provide official
transcripts of each juvenile’s work during their residency.
In conjunction and cooperation with the Home staff, develop an
individualized education plan that helps to teach and strengthen
vital social and self help skills in the context of the school
program and to provide complementary services across the program.
Work closely and cooperatively with the Home staff to develop an
individualized treatment plan to promote academic endeavors within
the context of the residential, direct care program component.
Prepare lesson plans for other Home staff members’ use in the
absence of the teacher. Make contact with the juveniles’
home school following the youths’ admission to the Home to
coordinate educational planning and services and, in preparation for
discharge, to plan for the youths’ re-entry into public schools.
Provide whatever resources are required to the youth and the
youths’ school to help assure the juvenile’s success when a
juvenile is able to function in the public school setting while
residing in the Multipurpose Juvenile Home. Communicate with
parents regarding educational issues. Receive training in all
aspects of the operation of the Multipurpose Juvenile Home and
provides coverage (including overnight coverage) when requested in
an emergency or in cases of position vacancies. Perform other
related duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Qualifications: A
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with an
appropriate current, valid teaching certification as specified by
the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Minimum
of two (2) years teaching experience or direct residential
experience with the target population is preferred. Work hours
may include evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Must
successfully complete all phases of the core and specialized
training, including physical restraint training. Position may
experience verbal and/or physical aggression from client population.
Must provide a copy of current, valid teaching certificate at time
of employment. Must maintain teaching certification by the North
Carolina Department of Public Instruction and provide a copy of
renewed teaching certificate to the Coordinator of Residential
Services upon completion of re-certification requirements. Position

Family
Services Specialist- Burlington
General Job Summary: The
Family Services Specialist, under the direction of the Residential
Program Manager, provides a comprehensive array of services to
juveniles and their families while the juvenile resides in the
Multipurpose Juvenile Home and maintains an active caseload of
juveniles and families after the juveniles leave the Home. Goals of
the services provided by the Family Services Specialist include
actively engaging families to become involved with the care and
treatment of their child, family reunification, and the successful
adjustment of the juvenile in the family and the community upon
discharge from the program.
Work
closely with all Home staff and takes the primary role in intake and
assessment of each youth admitted to the Home. Primary role in the
development of an individualized Service Plan for each youth that
includes specific strategies for service provision to the family of
the juvenile while in residence. Make contact with the
juvenile’s family as soon as possible after the juvenile is placed
in the Multipurpose Juvenile Home. Keep families apprised of
the progress and issues regarding the juveniles while in residence
and help the family to understand how they can become an active,
positive part of the juvenile’s treatment. Formally assess
each parent’s abilities and needs and provides structured
parenting skills training for families in the family’s home and at
the Home. Make frequent announced and unannounced visits to
the family’s home during evening and weekend hours, depending upon
the parent (s) work schedule. Make frequent telephone contacts
with families. Establish contacts with community services and
provides referral of families to other community resources for
additional or complementary services. Assist families in making
applications for services. Administer formal assessments of
youths and parents as scheduled and sends the assessments to the
Methodist Home for Children administrative office as instructed.
Provide information and recommendations to juvenile court personnel
as indicated and in conjunction with the Residential Program
Manager.
Work
closely with the Outcome Data Management Specialist to develop and
maintain detailed case records in a systematic fashion. Ensures
complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all treatment
provided to the youth while in residency. Send case files for
quality assurance reviews and collects and reports additional
information about the youth and/or family in a timely manner as
requested by the Quality Improvement Coordinator and the Outcome
Data Management Specialist. Provide structured home-based
treatment continuation services to juveniles and their families
after the juvenile leaves the Multipurpose Juvenile Home. Make
contacts with the youth’s school, court counselor, and other
community representatives to assist the youth in successful
reintegration. Receive training in all aspects of the
operation of the Multipurpose Juvenile Home and provides direct care
coverage (including overnights and weekends) when requested in cases
of position vacancies or emergencies. Perform other duties as

General Job Summary: The
primary responsibility of the Resident Counselor is to provide
program services to intervene with adolescents being served in the
group home. The position’s job responsibilities include
implementing direct treatment services through use of the agency’s
model of care, providing residential care services, and working with
adolescents, families, volunteers, and community representatives in
the youth home and community settings. Implement direct treatment
services according to an individualized service plan and consistent
with the agency’s model of care. Teach youth a curriculum of
skills, including social, self-help, independent living and academic
skills. Develop, to the highest degree possible, a normalized
family-style home environment providing counseling, concern,
direction, assistance, and support for the youth in care. Develop
and participate in creative activities for youths and staff. Model
appropriate moral, ethical, and professional values for youths,
colleagues, and the community-at-large. Seek consultation from
appropriate supervisory staff and provide detailed information
regarding significant issues affecting youth in care. Establish and
maintain positive and effective relationships with all program
consumers including but not limited to, youths, parents/family,
school personnel, neighbors, referral agencies, administrators, etc.
Perform daily operational functions such as facility cleaning
(interior and exterior) and maintenance, cooking, shopping, supplies
inventory, and other rotating assignments. Actively monitor
all aspects of the physical property. Maintain all property in
clean, safe, attractive manner. Comply with guidelines for property
maintenance and management. Drive agency vehicles for
purpose of transporting youths and operating all facets of the
treatment program. Transport youth for routine home activities,
court appointments, medical appointments, family visits, other
required appointments, and emergency situations. Provide assistance
and support to other program staff in their job responsibilities. Work
a flexible work schedule each month providing 24-hour per day or
other periods of coverage of the home as scheduled and on an
as-needed or emergency basis.
Provide primary and supplemental coverage, as scheduled by
administrators, for homes other than those primarily assigned.
Attend, and take advantage of, regularly scheduled in-service and
specially scheduled training sessions. Take advantage of other
professional growth opportunities. Maintain required certifications
and re-certifications for job by participating in available
training. Perform other related duties as assigned by the
Residential Program Manager.

Overnight
Awake- Franklin
(1 Part time), New Bern (1 part-time)
General Job Summary:
The Overnight/Awake Personnel, under the direction of the Program
Manager, with direct supervision as assigned, provides awake
coverage of the Multipurpose Juvenile Home each night from
approximately 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to assure the security,
health, and safety of staff and juvenile residents. Continuously
monitor the Multipurpose Juvenile Home (both the youths and the
physical facility) during the night and brings any issues that need
action (either immediately or at the end of the duty period) to the
attention of the Resident Counselor on duty or other appropriate
staff as directed. Assist with admission of youths. Receive
incoming phone or fax messages and take required action. Complete a
nightly report sheet and gives it to the Program Manager or designee
each morning. Provide services listed under the Resident Counselor
Job description when: specifically requested by the Residential
Program Manager or designee, the Overnight Awake Personnel has the
appropriate qualifications to carry out the responsibilities, and
the Overnight Awake Personnel has received specific, appropriate
training to allow the delivery of these services. Provide
transportation of juveniles as requested. Perform other related
duties as requested by the Residential Program Manager.
Hours:
Full time works Monday - Friday from 10:00 pm - 7:00 am. Part
time works Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 pm - 7:00 am.
